New Delhi: ODI World Cup 2023, to be held in India in the next year i.e. 2023, is under threat. Actually, the hosting of this World Cup can be snatched from India. The International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have come face to face regarding the tax dispute. Due to this dispute, the hosting of the World Cup can also be snatched from India.

According to media reports, the ICC has bluntly asked the BCCI to arrange tax exemption from the Government of India for organizing the ODI World Cup 2023. However, this is difficult to happen as the Government of India does not give such relaxation in any kind of event.

Let us tell you that in the year 2016, when India hosted the T20 World Cup, there was a dispute between ICC and BCCI. At that time BCCI could not get this exemption from the Government of India. After which the BCCI gave Rs 190 crore of its share to the ICC. A similar situation has again come before the BCCI.

At the same time, according to the policy of the ICC, the country hosting the ICC event has to arrange tax exemption in coordination with its government. If the BCCI does not do this for the 2023 ODI World Cup, then it will have to pay its share of Rs 900 crore to the ICC.

If reports are to be believed then BCCI is not ready for this, in such a situation if this situation continues then BCCI can also go to court against ICC. Apart from this, if the tax issue is not resolved and ICC does not get its share, then it can also consider changing the host. In such a situation, BCCI will try its best to resolve this matter as soon as possible.
