Digital Desk, Mumbai. In the recent episode of dance reality show ‘India’s Best Dancer 3’, the ‘Guru Purnima Special’ episode celebrated with teachers who play an important role in people’s lives. The contestants and their choreographers put up a scintillating performance and showcased the teacher-student bond.

Among the highlights of the episode was the presence of Sudhir Jagtap, a 16-year-old talented Srishti who recently achieved a world record by dancing for 127 hours. The driving force behind Srishti’s achievement is her maternal grandfather, who is also her mentor and accompanied her on the show.

Expressing her gratitude towards her grandfather, Srishti summarized her journey, “During the lockdown, I was in 9th standard, and I always dreamed of representing my country through my talent, i.e. dance. How can I be proud. After researching several dance records, I came to know that the minimum age was 16 plus. Then I traced the Asia Cup record, which was already achieved. Still, at that time, I aspired to achieve something extraordinary.”

He further added, “Researching deeply, I came to know that an Indian girl named Soni Chaurasia had attempted the record but she fainted after 87 hours during her first attempt. Determined to set a record Determined, I assembled a team of 40 people who supported me throughout. My goal was to do something important for my country and represent India through my dance. Each day presented new challenges, but the results was beneficial, and my grandfather (Nanaji) always provided his unwavering support.

He told that his grandfather taught him yoga nidra and he prepared seven performances observing the changes in his body after three hours of practice.

Despite experiencing pain in the feet and flat knees, doctors warned us that dancing any further could cause permanent damage. However, I persevered. When we asked for advice on the situation we were told there was only a 1 per cent chance of success. Nevertheless, I remained determined to achieve the record.”

Honoring the bond between Srishti and her grandfather, contestant Shivanshu Soni showcased the story of Srishti’s struggle and hard work along with choreographer Vivek, which brought her glory. Both performed on the motivational song ‘Lakshya’.

Praising Shivanshu, judge Terence Lewis commented, “Shivanshu beautifully portrays the journey of an ordinary person to achieve something extraordinary. His performance reminds us that every event that unfolds behind us leaves behind those characters.” It leaves a collective memory of those who have supported us or stopped us. Those who try to stop us are also the driving forces that propel us forward. Shivanshu has the power to take any song and turn it into an extraordinary performance. There is power to change. That is the power of your dance, and it deserves both recognition and praise.”

‘India’s Best Dancer 3’ airs on Saturdays and Sundays on Sony Entertainment Television.
