How did Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express derail in Gonda, UP
Railway accidents in the country are not stopping. Despite all the claims of the government, accidents are happening every day and passengers traveling in them are losing their lives. In such a situation, the question arises that if a common man has to travel by train, will he protect his own life? Reason, another railway accident occurred on Thursday. Eight coaches of Dibrugarh Express overturned in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh. Two passengers died. More than 31 passengers are injured. An investigation has been ordered.
Amidst all this, the driver claimed that he had heard the sound of an explosion before the accident. After which the angle of conspiracy also started appearing in the accident. But the UP Police Chief rejected this claim. Actually, on Thursday afternoon at around 2.30 pm, train number 15904 express train going from Chandigarh to Dibrugarh met with an accident in Jhilahi, 25 km from Gonda station in Uttar Pradesh and 8 coaches derailed.
Immediately after the accident, until the medical train and rescue team arrived with relief, people were seen trying to rescue themselves and their family members by opening the doors or windows of the overturned train compartments. On the other hand, after this accident, the central government has once again come under the target of the opposition. The opposition surrounded the government and also raised questions about the Kavach security system.
Opposition raised questions on the accident
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said that this is another evidence of systematically endangering rail safety in Modi rule. Akhilesh Yadav said that the BJP government should ensure accountability. Aam Aadmi Party’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said that these accidents are happening to garner praise for running high-speed trains on weak tracks. Mamata Banerjee asked that when will the government understand that passenger safety is the most important.
What is the real reason behind the accident?
After the accident, the question arose that how did this happen? Where more people travel in India every day than the population of Australia, how is the trust on railways being derailed again and again. Most of the accidents happen due to train derailment. But was the weak track also the reason for the derailment of Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express? Or some other defect? The answer to this question will be known only after the investigation is completed.
How much truth is there in the claim of explosion sound?
Even before the investigation was done, a claim came. It was claimed that the loco pilot of the train said that he heard an explosion just before the accident. Apart from this, a passenger also told ANI that he heard the sound of an explosion. However, by night, UP DGP Prashant Kumar denied this claim and said that there was no explosion. In such a situation, the question arises that what could have been the sound of the explosion that the loco pilot and the passenger claimed to have heard?
Railway Ministry announced compensation
The Railway Ministry has also announced compensation for the deceased and the injured. Giving information, the Railway Ministry said that an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh has been announced to the families of the deceased, Rs 2.5 lakh to the seriously injured and Rs 50,000 to the minor injured. Apart from the CRS investigation, a high-level inquiry has been ordered. The deceased have been identified as Saroj Kumar Singh (31), a resident of Araria in Bihar and Rahul (38), a resident of Chandigarh.
I only remember the screams: Passengers
Even before rescue teams arrived, passengers on the Assam-bound train started coming out of the overturned coaches. Some of them went back again to take out their luggage. Then they sat near the tracks waiting for rescue workers to arrive. According to PTI, a passenger Sandeep Kumar said, “For a moment the coach was filled with dust and darkness prevailed all around. I don’t remember what happened in the next few seconds. I only remember screams and a passenger pulling my hand and helping me get out of the window.”
