Bridgetown (Barbados): Pitching for more investment in international cricket, England captain Heather Knight has allayed fears that fast-growing franchise cricket could affect women’s cricket. The England women’s team is currently on a tour of the West Indies for a limited overs series.
In this tour, the fifth and final match of the T20 series will be played on Friday. England have won the ODI series 3-0 while leading 4-0 in the T20I series.
Knight said on the eve of the fifth match, “There has been a lot of change since the start of franchise competitions and I believe that in such a situation it is important to pay more attention to international cricket.” It is necessary to strengthen it in all countries so that it remains the most important part of the game.

Similar to the men’s franchise league, there is a growing trend of organizing a women’s league and Knight believes that women cricketers can also prefer franchise cricket like many other male cricketers.
