New Delhi: The performance of India’s opener KL Rahul in the recently played T20 series against Australia (IND vs AUS T20 Series) was not so special. After which now his form in the three-match T20 series against South Africa (IND vs SA T20 Series) has become a matter of concern for Team India. After which now former Team India captain Sunil Gavaskar has defended KL Rahul. He says that there is no need to worry about Rahul’s form.
Actually, KL Rahul did not do anything special in the Asia Cup as well. He scored only 132 runs in 5 innings. After which he also indicated a return to form after playing an innings of 55 runs in the first T20 match against Australia. But, then in the next two matches, Rahul was able to score only 10 and 1 runs.
Now Sunil Gavaskar told KL Rahul that, “Rahul is doing what the team expects from him. Rahul scored a fifty in the first match. In the second match, there was only 8 overs to play, you can’t do much there. He had to sacrifice his wicket in Nagpur and Hyderabad.
Gavaskar further said, “The same thing happened in Hyderabad. You had to score runs at the rate of 9 runs per over chasing the target. It doesn’t get easier. From the very beginning you have to start the attack on the opposing team. In such a situation, there is a possibility of losing wickets.
Let us tell you that earlier, Team India captain Rohit Sharma has also come out in support of KL Rahul. Rohit Sharma has also expressed hope that KL Rahul will be seen performing brilliantly in the World Cup. However, experts are advising Kohli to open instead of Rahul.
