Former Australia great batsman and captain Ricky Ponting has been taken to the hospital due to ill health. According to reports from several Australian media outlets, Ponting was doing commentary for Channel 7 during the third day of the first Test between Australia and West Indies in Perth. According to a report in FoxSports quoting The Daily Telegraph, he was taken to the hospital at lunchtime. A report in the Sydney Morning Herald stated that Ponting reported feeling unwell during the third day of the Test match and went to hospital for a precautionary check-up of his heart. A spokesman said Ricky Ponting is unwell and will not be providing commentary for the remainder of today’s coverage. Australian cricket has had a tough few years as far as heart health is concerned. Apart from this, former Western Australia wicketkeeper and recently Netherlands coach Ryan Campbell also suffered a cardiac arrest in April this year, due to which he almost died.
