The Delhi High Court has dismissed Facebook India’s petition.

Facebook News: The Delhi High Court has dismissed Facebook India’s plea challenging the Competition Commission of India’s (CCI) order to probe WhatsApp’s 2021 privacy policy. Justice Yashwant Verma dismissed the petition saying that there must be some end to the ‘opportunities to file suit’. Facebook India had moved a single-judge bench in August after a division bench of the high court dismissed the appeal in a related matter.

‘Petition has already been dismissed’

On August 25, the bench had dismissed the appeals of WhatsApp and Facebook which were filed in protest against the dismissal of the request to challenge the investigation being conducted by the CCI order. In the latest hearing of this case, Justice Verma said that the bench has already dismissed the petition of Facebook Inc challenging the CCI probe. Dismissing the petition, the High Court said, ‘You have now suddenly arisen and are challenging the order. enough is enough. There must be some end to ‘opportunities for litigation’.

Facebook had challenged the CCI’s order to investigate WhatsApp’s privacy policy.

Facebook The company had earlier moved the Bombay High Court challenging the order of a Consumer Redressal Commission directing it to pay Rs 25,599 to a labourer. The commission had given this direction regarding non-receipt of the product purchased online and fake advertisement. The Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court was hearing two petitions filed by Facebook India Online Services Pvt Ltd and Meta Platforms Inc. These petitions were filed against the order issued by the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Gondia in June 2022.

‘I was cheated in the name of shoes’
The commission had directed the companies to pay Rs 599 to the consumer and Rs 25,000 for mental agony for not getting the product purchased online. A man named Tribhuvan Bhongde had claimed that he had seen an advertisement of Marya Studios on Facebook, in which Nike shoes were being sold for Rs 599. Bhongde said that he ordered the shoes in September 2020 and made the payment, but the shoes were not sent to him. Bhongde claimed that he tried to talk to ‘customer care’ where he was duped of Rs 7,568.
