    ENG Vs SL: England reach the semi-finals after registering a win over Sri Lanka, Australia knocked out

    T20 World Cup, ENG vs SL: England defeated Sri Lanka by four wickets to enter the semi-finals at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday. With this, Australia’s team has been out of the ICC T20 World Cup-2022. England has become the second team to qualify for the semi-finals in Group 1. Prior to that New Zealand had managed to secure a place in the last-4. This victory of England has kept the current winner and host Australia out of this World Cup.

    Sri Lanka innings

    Electing to bat first, the Sri Lankan team could not take advantage of a good start and could only manage 141 runs in 20 overs for the loss of eight wickets. Opener Pathum Nisanka played a brilliant innings for Sri Lanka and scored 67 runs. Nisanka added 39 runs in four overs for the first wicket with Kushal Mendis. But Mendis was out on the last ball of the fourth over. After this the Sri Lankan team could not recover and kept losing wickets continuously. On the other hand, Nisanka stood at one end and kept on scoring runs. Sri Lanka’s team could only score 141 runs for the loss of 8 wickets.

    England’s innings

    England chased down the score with a comfortable score of 141 for the loss of six wickets and got a ball earlier. However, England did not get victory easily in this match. By the way, England got off to a solid start. Captain Joss Butler and Alex Hales batted stormy and added half the runs in seven overs. After a good start, England’s team continued to lose some wickets and their victory remained in doubt. Dhananjay de Silva, who scored 28 runs, showed the way to the pavilion to Butler. After that a lot depended on Hales. But he could not complete his half-century and was dismissed on a personal score of 47. After this Ben Stokes fought till the end and gave England victory.
