Yes, Cyber Police of North District Police has arrested three accused who cheated online in the name of getting Ayurvedic treatment in Patanjali Yog Village.
The arrested accused have been identified as gang leader Ramesh Patel alias Ghantu (31) his younger brother Ashish Kumar alias Chhotu (22) and website developer Harendra Kumar alias Harry (25). Harendra is BCA pass, currently he is doing MCA from Patna college. The accused have duped hundreds of people across the country to the tune of lakhs. Five laptops, 10 mobile phones, 19 SIM cards, 12 debit cards, four check books, six passbooks, WiFi modems and Rs 1.66 lakh in cash have been recovered from the arrested accused. Cyber Police is investigating the matter after interrogating the arrested accused.
North District Deputy Commissioner of Police Sagar Singh Kalsi said that on the cyber crime portal of the Ministry of Home Affairs, North Delhi resident Nitin Sharma had given a complaint of cheating 2.40 lakh. The victim told that he had to get his son treated for Ayurvedic treatment. On searching on Google, he found the website of Patanjali Yog Gram, on which he got a number. On calling, the person sitting on the other side introduced himself as Dr. Sunil Gupta of Patanjali. After the conversation, demanded Rs 10,000 from the victim in the name of registration. The amount was paid online.
After this, gradually Rs 2.40 lakh was cheated from the victim. After receiving the complaint, the North District Cyber Police Station registered a case and started investigation. Cyber police station in-charge Pawan Tomar, SI Rohit and the team of others investigated the accounts in which Nitin Sharma had transferred money. Apart from this, on checking the mobile numbers on which it was talked, it was found that they have been issued from West Bengal, but their location is from Nalanda, Bihar. From the accounts it was found that the amount was withdrawn from ATM in West Bengal through ATM. A team was immediately sent to Bihar. The police nabbed the gang leader Ramesh Patel and his younger brother Ashish from Nalanda. After this, Harendra, who created the fake website, was arrested from Patna.
The fraud business was going on for the last one and a half year…
During interrogation, accused Ramesh told that he is indulging in the business of cheating in the name of Patanjali for about one and a half years. He had created a fake website with the help of Harendra. He has duped hundreds of people across the country in a similar manner. The amazing thing is that people used to come to know about the fraud after reaching Patanjali Yog Village. There they came to know that they did not have any booking in advance. They have been cheated. At present, 15 complaints of fraud have reached Delhi Police. The search is on for the rest of the complainants.
More than 20 fake websites have been created …
During the investigation, the police came to know that the accused have created more than 20 websites similar to Patanjali Yog Gram. Whoever searches on Google in the name of Ayurvedic treatment. He will definitely see their website. To block these websites, the police have written a letter to the National Internet Exchange of India and submitted its list. The process of action on these has been started.
3rd class pass was talking about becoming a doctor
In the investigation of the police, it has been found that the gang leader Ramesh Patel is only third class pass. The idea came in his mind to cheat people. He used to take pre-activated SIM cards and bank accounts from other states including West Bengal, Assam and Odisha and use them. Ramesh’s younger brother Ashish is pursuing BA, while Harendra is pursuing MCA. The police are trying to find out by investigating their accounts, how many people have been cheated by these people so far.
