Abu Dhabi: South African cricketer David Miller believes Hardik Pandya as captain can make the Indian T20 team fearless with his phenomenal mental clarity and way of working. Hardik is being seen as the captain of the Indian team in the 2024 T20 World Cup as the current skipper Rohit Sharma is not expected to take up the responsibility in this format of the game for the next two years.
One of the best ‘finishers’ of the game in the last two years, Miller has become South Africa’s go-to man in pressure situations. He said that Hardik played a key role in helping Gujarat Titans win the title on their debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL). “Having played under his captaincy in the IPL, I feel he is a natural leader, people follow him,” he said on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi T10 League here. It gives you the freedom to play the way you want to play. He’s a very cohesive captain, he wants everyone to stick close to each other.”

Miller said, “At the same time he is very clear in the matter of discipline. He has very good qualities as a captain. “Even in the IPL, he kept getting better and better as the season progressed and I expect him to do the same (in the Indian team),” he said.
