    Cricketer Death | Wave of mourning in Indian cricket, young fast bowler of Vijay Hazare Trophy winning team dies

    New Delhi. Himachal Pradesh’s young fast bowler Siddharth Sharma passed away at a hospital in Vadodara after a brief illness. A senior official of the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association confirmed this. Sharma, 28, was a member of the Himachal team that won the Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2021-22. He took 33 wickets in six first-class, six List A and one T20 matches.

    HPCA secretary Avneesh Parmar said, “Everyone in the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association is in grief. Siddhartha left us on Thursday. He was on ventilator for the last few days. He was in the team in the last match against Baroda in Vadodara.

    He said, “Before the match, he started vomiting and had difficulty in passing urine. He was taken to the hospital where his condition deteriorated.”

    Siddharth’s family consists of parents and brother who lives abroad. His last rites were performed after his brother returned from Canada. Siddharth took five wickets in an innings and seven wickets in total in the match against Bengal at Eden Gardens from 20 to 23 December. Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has condoled his death.

    He tweeted, “Saddened by the news of the demise of Siddharth Sharma, a member of the Vijay Hazare Trophy winning team of Himachal Pradesh. May his soul rest in peace and God give strength to the family to overcome this loss. (agency)
