Cricket News: Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur gave his reaction on Pakistan Cricket Board playing the World Cup in India. Said that every major team will participate in the World Cup to be held in the country. It is worth noting that BCCI secretary Jay Shah had said, ‘India will not go to Pakistan for the Asia Cup to be held next year’. After which the PCB has threatened to boycott the World Cup.

    India’s contribution to sports

Anurag Thakur said that this is a matter of BCCI. That’s where it will decide. India is the powerhouse of sports. The ODI World Cup is to be held here next year. All the big teams will take part in it. You cannot ignore India. India has contributed a lot to the game. Thakur said on Asia Cup 2023 that the Home Ministry will take a decision on this in view of the security concerns in Pakistan.

PCB requests to call emergency meeting

PCB has taken a tough stand on Jay Shah’s statement. Said that this World Cup could affect Pakistan’s tour of India for 2023 and future ICC tournaments to be held in India in 2024-31. The Pakistan board said the remarks were made without any discussion with the board of the Asian Cricket Council or the Pakistan board. The Board further said that Pakistan is yet to receive any clarification from the ACC on the statement of the ACC President. It has been requested to convene an emergency meeting of the board at the earliest to discuss the matter.

    ICC did not comment

BCCI and PCB officials will face-to-face on the subject at the ICC Board meeting to be held in Melbourne next month. The ICC has not commented on the matter.
