New Delhi: Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has taken big action against Sri Lankan star all-rounder Chamika Karunaratne. Actually, 26-year-old Chamika Karunaratne broke the contract rules of the players during the T20 World Cup. Due to which now the board has suspended him from all formats of cricket for one year. The Sri Lankan Board’s Executive Committee handed down the punishment following a disciplinary inquiry conducted by a three-member panel.
“Considering the seriousness of Chamika Karunaratne’s breaches, the Inquiry Committee recommended to the SLC Executive Committee that the player be sternly warned not to do so in future,” SLC said in a statement. Along with this, such punishment should be given which does not have much effect on his cricket career.

The board further said, “Following the recommendations of the inquiry panel, the executive committee has banned Karunaratne from participating in all forms of cricket for one year.” Along with this, a fine of US $ 5000 i.e. about Rs 4.08 lakh has also been imposed against Karunaratne.
Let us tell you that in the recently concluded T20 World Cup, Chamika Karunaratne took a total of three wickets in seven matches. Chamika Karunaratne has accepted all the allegations leveled against her. Apart from this, another Sri Lankan cricketer Danushka Gunathilak was also in the headlines. Gunatilak, who was accused of rape by a woman during the team’s T20 World Cup campaign in Australia, has now been granted bail but has been banned from using Tinder, the social media app.
