Indian sources have rejected China’s claim that talks were held between the leaders of India and China during the BRICS summit on India’s demand. In fact, China has claimed that India had demanded for the meeting between Indian Prime Minister Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the BRICS conference.
India rejected China’s claim
However, according to media reports, it has been reported that top officials of the government have rejected China’s claim saying that bilateral talks were being offered by China for a long time. Let us tell you that there was no formal conversation between the two leaders during the BRICS conference, but there was an informal conversation between PM Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping in the Leaders Lounge.

China’s Foreign Ministry has said that on the demand of PM Modi, President Xi Jinping spoke to him on the sidelines of the BRICS summit. The two leaders agreed to reduce troop deployment along the LoC and hold talks towards reducing tensions between the two countries.
Foreign Secretary gave information about the meeting
While talking to reporters on Thursday, Indian Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra said that there was an informal conversation between President Xi Jinping and PM Modi on the sidelines of the BRICS summit. In this conversation, PM Modi conveyed India’s concerns on the unresolved issues on the LAC between India and China.
Let us tell you that since June 2020, the tension between the two countries has increased considerably, when the soldiers of both the countries clashed in the Galvan Valley in Ladakh. There have been 19 rounds of Corps Commander level talks between the armies of India and China. According to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, the two leaders agreed to resolve the issues through dialogue at the military and diplomatic levels.
