New Delhi: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (MS Dhoni), the most successful captain of the Indian team, can once again appear in a big role. In fact, the Indian team has been facing a lot of criticism since the semi-final exit of the ICC T20 World Cup (T20 WC). In such a situation, big tournaments are also going to come in the coming years. Keeping this in mind, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has started preparing to make a big change.
Amidst these preparations of BCCI, BCCI is deciding to give a big responsibility to former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. According to reports, with the setup of Indian T20 cricket, the BCCI is ready to send an SOS to Dhoni for a bigger role (Si Opus Sit’ which means ‘if needed’). BCCI is contemplating to call Dhoni for a permanent role in Indian cricket.

According to reports in The Telegraph, the BCCI feels that it is a bit overwhelming for India’s head coach Rahul Dravid to do the management work in all three formats. In view of this, the BCCI is thinking of dividing the roles of coaching. In view of this, BCCI is trying to include Dhoni and raise the level of Team India. According to reports, this will be discussed in the Apex Council meeting to be held later this month.
It has been said in the reports that, Mahendra Singh Dhoni can retire after playing IPL 2023. After which BCCI can use his experience in the right way and work to take Team India forward. India has also become the World Cup champion twice under Dhoni’s captaincy, so Mahendra Singh Dhoni can be asked to run the T20 team especially.
However, it is not yet known that when and for which format Dhoni will be given the responsibility. No official confirmation has been made by the BCCI regarding this yet. However, in the BCCI Apex Council meeting to be held by the end of this month, Dhoni’s role can be discussed and he can be made ‘Director of Cricket’.
