T20 World Cup: Team India, which is preparing for the T20 World Cup, has suffered a major setback. The BCCI has made it clear that fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah will not be a part of the upcoming T20 World Cup. Earlier, head coach Rahul Dravid had expressed hope that if the injured Jasprit Bumrah recovers, then he can be included in the World Cup squad. On the other hand, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly had reacted to Bumrah’s injury and dismissed the reports of the fast bowler’s exclusion from the T20 World Cup. Ganguly had said that there is still a lot of time left in the World Cup. But on Monday, the BCCI has made a formal announcement about him not playing in the T20 World Cup.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah said in a statement quoting the board’s medical team that Bumrah has been dropped from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup squad. He said that the decision has been taken after detailed evaluation and consultation with experts. The BCCI will soon announce the replacement of Bumrah for the T20 World Cup. Bumrah is the second player from India to be out of the T20 World Cup 2022. Before him, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has already been ruled out of this tournament.

Bumrah will be missed

Jasprit Bumrah is battling with the problem of stress fracture. He was injured on the tour of England, after which he could not go on the West Indies tour. Team India had to bear the brunt of his absence even during the Asia Cup 2022. Although he proved his mettle in the last two T20Is on Australia’s tour of India, an old injury resurfaced and was ruled out of the T20I series against South Africa. Jasprit Bumrah’s exit after Ravindra Jadeja is considered a big setback for Team India.
