Eastchurch: There is a world of difference in their bowling styles but Arshdeep Singh has the advantage of Umran Malik’s pace as the difference in pace makes it difficult for the batsmen to adjust. Jammu fast bowler Umran is the fastest bowler in world cricket along with England’s Mark Wood and South Africa’s Enrich Norkia who can bowl continuously at a speed of 150 kmph.
Arshdeep is a swing bowler who bowls at a speed of 130 kmph. Both made their ODI debut in the first match against New Zealand in Auckland and Arshdeep wants the pairing to continue. He said before the third ODI against New Zealand, “It is always a pleasure to bowl with Umran. He is a happy person and the atmosphere in the dressing room is also good.

He said, “As far as bowling is concerned, Umran’s bowling gives me a lot of advantage because the batsman finds it difficult to adapt to the pace of 155 to 135. They dodge at speed. Hopefully, we will continue to bowl to each other like this in the future as well.” Arshdeep, who has made his mark in T20, doesn’t want to make too many changes while playing 50-over cricket.
He said, “My method is to bowl aggressively in the beginning and defensively at the end. Will do the same in ODIs if I get a chance.” In his short career, Arshdeep has also become a target of critics. After India’s loss to Pakistan in the Asia Cup match in Dubai, a drunken fan hurled abuses at him when he was about to board the team bus.
Arshdeep said, “If you play well, you get love and appreciation and if you don’t, fans have the right to criticize us. He loves the team and the game and you have to accept both the love and the criticism.” (agency)
