New Delhi: Former India captain and coach Anil Kumble believes that there should be a completely different team of limited overs and Test format to move ahead in international cricket. After England’s success in ODIs and T20s, discussions have started to have separate teams for white-ball and red-ball cricket.
Kumble told ESPNcricinfo, “Obviously you need different teams. You need T20 specialists. I think this England team has shown and even last time T20 World Cup champions Australia has proved that you should have more and more all-rounders. You look at their batting order.”
He said, “Today Liam Livingstone comes to bat at number seven. No other team has a batsman like Livingstone at number seven. Marcus Stoinis bats at number six for Australia. You have to build a team like this.”

Kumble said, “I am not really sure whether you need a different captain or a different coach. It all depends on what kind of team you are going to choose. Then decide what kind of support staff and captain you want. Former Australia all-rounder Tom Moody, however, said international teams should seriously consider having separate coaches. In England, Brendon McCullum is his Test coach while Matthew Mott is the coach of the limited overs team.
Moody said after England’s T20 World Cup title win, “I believe there is no doubt that this is the way forward, whether it is players or support staff, seriously considering keeping them apart.” Need to.” He said, “There seems to be a big difference between England’s Test and limited overs teams. They have produced good players.” (agency)
