Andhra Pradesh: Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury on Saturday urged the Narendra Modi government at the Center to make immediate changes in the policies under which subsidies and tax benefits have been given to big corporate houses. He has also demanded recovery of huge amount of loans given to these companies. Addressing a public meeting on the culmination of the 10-day long ‘Desh Rakshana Bheri’ organized by the CPI(M) across the country, the party general secretary said that the Narendra Modi government at the Center during its eight-year tenure has contributed to both the Constitution and the country’s economy. has been destroyed. Calling for joining hands with secular and democratic parties to topple the Modi government, Yechury said, “If you do not do this (change in policies), we will remove you from power and bring in a new people-friendly government. .”

Five-six industrialists are the owners of billions of dollars

Yechury said, “Loans of Rs 11 lakh crore given to Modi’s friends-big corporate houses have been written off. He was given two lakh crore rupees as tax benefit. This is an open plunder of public money. Before Modi became the Prime Minister, industrialist Gautam Adani was ranked 330 in the list of world’s rich, but now he has become the second richest person in the world. Yechury asserted that under Modi’s regime only five-six industrialists have become owners of billions of dollars, while 42 per cent of the youth in the age group of 20-25 are unemployed. He claimed that over 11,000 youths died by suicide across the country because they could not secure jobs, while lakhs of government posts were lying vacant.

‘Secularism in danger in BJP-ruled states’

The former Rajya Sabha member said, “All money given to corporate houses in various forms should be withdrawn and used for the welfare of the people. Yechury also said that secularism is under threat in all BJP-ruled states, laws are being changed to attack minorities and atrocities on women and Dalits have increased. “The BJP has not won all the states, yet it has grabbed power through secret means. She is buying MLAs and if this is not possible then threatening them by using Enforcement Directorate, CBI or other agencies. .

It is imperative to remove Modi: Yechury

Yechury said, “It is imperative to remove Modi. This is the aim of the CPI(M) and we will continue to fight across the country.
