New Delhi: Former Australia wicket-keeper batsman Adam Gilchrist is celebrating his 51st birthday today. Adam Gilchrist has shown the way to the pavilion to many great batsmen with his brilliant wicketkeeper. Many big changes were seen in the Australian team in his presence.

Born on 14 November 1971, Adam Gilchrist made many big records in Australian cricket. He was a left-handed wicketkeeper-batsman. Adam Gilchrist was very famous for his aggressive batting. Gilchrist is considered to be the most dangerous wicket-keeper batsman in the world. Gilchrist has been a part of the three-time World Cup winning team for Australia. It is known that even today, Gilchrist’s name holds the record for scoring a century in the final of the World Cup.

Adam Gilchrist is popularly known as ‘Gilli’ in the cricket world. Gilchrist made his international debut against South Africa in Faridabad. But, he got recognition by playing 81 runs in 88 balls during the Test series against Pakistan in 1999.

In the final match against Sri Lanka in 2007, Gilchrist played a stormy innings of 149 runs in 104 balls. Where he hit 13 fours and 8 sixes during this innings. Due to his scintillating innings, the Australian team was able to score 281 runs in 38 overs for the loss of 4 wickets. Gili completed his century in just 72 balls while batting atish.
