NASA ,National Aeronautics and Space Agency, has broken its spacecraft DART into an asteroid. DART as a test ,double asteroid redirection test, the asteroid ,celestial body, It has been carried out to see whether similar events in the future would be possible to deflect an asteroid from its path that could potentially be harmful to Earth. DART as its target 160 The meter wide object struck Dimorphos.

In this unusual and first of its kind experiment, NASA has 11 Successfully destroyed asteroid million kilometers away. Cameras installed in DART sent photos of the spacecraft every single second until it hit the target. The pictures continued to be received until the target disappeared. especially, DART targeted Dimorphos, a minor member of the asteroid pair. It is the moon of Didymos, the larger member of the asteroid.

The DART spacecraft is similar in shape to a vending machine and will continue to operate until it hits its target Dimorphos. 14,000 miles, It was moving at a fast pace of the hour.

Lori Glaze, director of NASA’s Department of Planetary Science, said in a statement that ,it different, gone through the collection of individual pixels and now you can see the shape and texture of didymos and the like,As we get closer you can see things similar to Dimorphos. It’s great.,

The final images from DART’s cameras showed that Didymos is a somewhat egg-shaped rock with boulders and craters. The DART cameras were sending pictures every second until they became blank. This is the moment when the collision really happened. It was a happy moment for the NASA team.

NASA scientists believe that although the asteroid is not completely broken, it has deformed and that the impact may have shortened Dimorphos’ orbit around Didymos slightly. If this is true then it would be proved that a collision with a spacecraft is not possible in the trajectory of an asteroid. ,trajectory, can change.

Although, More details about the impact are not yet known and astronomers will continue to study the asteroid in the coming weeks. Although the NASA team believed that it was successfully carried out. NASA Administrator Bill Nelson said in a statement,We are showing that protecting the planet is a global effort and it is possible to save our planet.,

Dimorphos is small and pyramid-shaped and has never been a threat to Earth. But there are many other asteroids and comets orbiting closer than the asteroid belt. It also includes some that NASA has not yet discovered. If a big asteroid hits the earth, So it can pose a potential threat to life on Earth. It is worth remembering here that a major cause of the extinction of the dinosaurs was the impact of a large asteroid with the Earth, which created a huge amount of debris and dust. It created so much debris and dust that not even sunlight could penetrate. plants from it, other creatures,Animals and eventually dinosaurs disappeared.

DART test 2015 and was developed and operated by John Hopkins University’s Applied Physics Laboratory in collaboration with several NASA centers. It was launched in November last year. DART HUGE AITA PROJECT ,Asteroid Impact and Deflection Assessment, which is a part of NASA and ESA ,european space agency, There is a joint work between Arizona in this mission, new Mexico, Observatories in Chile and elsewhere ,observatories, are located where astronomers have placed their telescopes on Dimorphos and Didymos to assess the impact of the collision.

The final object was captured by a camera named DRACO. This powerful camera is similar to the one installed on another spacecraft New Horizons that was sent by Pluto. even this mighty close,The up camera could also see Dimorphos as a separate object for a few hours before the collision occurred.

in an earlier statement, Nancy Chabot, a planetary scientist at Johns Hopkins University and coordinating chief of DART, explained the asteroid’s photo taken by the camera and said, because you’re coming so fast, So in the last few minutes we’ll see what Dimorphos looks like., What is the size of this asteroid that we have never seen before. it’s really only the last 30 It is a matter of seconds before we will resolve the surface features on the asteroid.

specially, Along with DART, NASA scientists also conducted another test, LICIACube, an Italian test that was slightly behind DART. It overtook Dimorphos just three minutes after impact. The cameras here will capture just before and after effects. Although, According to Simone Pirotta, project manager of the Italian test by the Italian space agency ASI, Important Photos from LICIACube 24 Should be available after hours.
