In the election year, the state government is going to give a big gift to the Prantiya Rakshak Dal (PRD) jawans. Accident insurance scheme will be started for more than 50 thousand jawans working in the force. It will have the facility of a cover of Rs 16 lakh.

For this, an MoU has been signed between the Youth Welfare Department and Canara Bank. Under the scheme, many additional facilities will also be given to the jawans and their families. Under this, the wife of the jawan will also be covered under accident insurance. On the death of his wife, the jawan will get an insurance amount of one lakh.

An amount of one lakh rupees will be given to the dependents even on the normal death of the jawan. The services of these jawans are taken in almost all the departments of the state government. They are given only honorarium. For a long time there was a demand to give them the benefit of accident insurance.

PRD jawans account will open on zero balance

Under the initiative of the state government, the account of PRD jawans and their families will be opened on zero balance in Canara Bank. The honorarium of the soldiers will also go in the same. Account holders will get an overdraft facility of up to three lakh rupees and will not have to pay any kind of interest on withdrawing the amount. The jawans and their wives will also get the facility of opening a free demat account for locker and share trading. Additional Chief Secretary, Sports and Youth Welfare, Navneet Sehgal said that these jawans were not getting the benefit of accident insurance scheme, whereas their duty is imposed at all the risky places. That’s why the government has taken this decision.
