    UP Flood: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday conducted an aerial survey of flood-hit areas of Gorakhpur, Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar and Siddharth Nagar districts. Hundreds of villages in 21 districts of the state are affected by the floods. Several rivers in the state including Ganga, Sharda, Ghaghra, Rapti and Kuano are in spate and flowing above the danger mark in various districts.

    Yogi met the affected people

    A spokesperson of the state government said that Chief Minister Yogi, after conducting an aerial survey of the flood-hit areas, met the affected people and inquired about their condition. Along with this, relief material was also distributed to them. The Chief Minister said that the Central and State Government stands with the affected people in this unprecedented flood crisis. He asked the officials to distribute relief material to all the affected families on a war footing. Also, adequate availability of boats and ‘motor boats’ should be ensured for relief and rescue work.

    An assistance of Rs 4 lakh will be given to the victim’s family.

    The spokesman said that Yogi has asked the officials to give an assistance of Rs 4 lakh to the victim’s family in case of death due to flood or other calamity. The Chief Minister also directed to prepare an action plan to resettle people living across the river embankment in Sant Kabir Nagar in Dhanghata tehsil area every year to save them from the situation of flood disaster.

    Two people died in the last 24 hours

    He said that it is the priority of the State Government to reach the people affected by the floods to safer places by providing them relief material and other necessary assistance. The Chief Minister directed the officers that as soon as the flood waters receded, a comprehensive program of cleanliness should be carried out in the affected area. According to the details provided by the Relief Commissioner’s office, two people died in the state in the last 24 hours due to excessive rainfall.

    21 districts of the state affected

    At present 21 districts of the state are flood affected. These include Balrampur, Siddharthnagar, Gorakhpur, Gonda, Bahraich, Barabanki, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Azamgarh, Maharajganj, Bareilly, Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar, Ayodhya, Mau, Kushinagar, Ballia, Ambedkar Nagar, Pilibhit, Deoria and Shahjahanpur. River Ganga is flowing above the danger mark at Badaun (Kachla Bridge). At the same time, Sharda river in Lakhimpur Kheri (Paliakalan and Shardanagar), Ghaghra river in Barabanki (Elgin Bridge), Ayodhya and Ballia (Turtipar), Rapti river in Balrampur, Siddharthnagar (Bansi) and Gorakhpur (Rigauli and Bird Ghat), Budhi Rapti river Siddharthnagar (Kakrahi) and Kunhara rivers are flowing above the danger mark at Siddharthnagar (his market), Rohin river at Maharajganj (Trimohinghat) and Kuano river at Gonda (Chanddeep Ghat).
