    UN: India voted in favor of Russian resolution in the United Nations, eight draft resolutions approved

    Russia’s draft resolution was voted on Friday in the United Nations General Assembly, on which India has voted in favor of Russia. Meanwhile, amid debates on child protection, literacy, etc. from sexual abuse, a UN General Assembly committee approved a draft resolution for Russia to counter the glorification of Nazism.

    The committee approved eight draft resolutions, including those on the rights of indigenous peoples, privacy in the digital age, condemning the glorification of Nazism. 51 countries voted against the draft and 15 countries did not participate. The draft resolutions cover a range of human rights issues ranging from the right to literacy and protection of children from sexual abuse to crime prevention and criminal justice matters.

    The representative of the Russian Federation in its UN release expressed concern over the increase in rhetoric related to racism and foreign hatred. In the draft resolution the Assembly expressed deep concern about the Nazi movement, neo-Nazism and the inclusion of former members of the Waffen SS organization, public demonstrations to erect monuments and glorify the Nazi past.
