Two shepherds and 40-50 buffaloes went missing after drowning in the Ganges in Bhagalpur on Sunday. The incident took place at the immersion ghat in Burari. Where cattle shepherds were taking more than 70 buffaloes from Manth Ghat to the other side of the Ganges. There was already a dredging ship in the Ganges and due to the strong current in the Ganges, the shepherd’s ship became uncontrollable. Meanwhile, the dredging ship also arrived, in which the animals and a total of eight people came.
6 people somehow swam out and got out. But in the accident, two shepherds drowned in the Ganges and 40 heads and 50 buffaloes have also drowned in the Ganges. As soon as the information about the incident was received, the police of several police stations including Barari police station and Bhagalpur SDO Dhananjay Kumar reached Moke and started the search of SDRF team again. Several police cantonments have been converted on the spot. The same missing shepherd has been identified as Karu Yadav and Sikander Yadav, residents of Mayaganj.
The survivors said – we came out from the mouth of death
Dheeraj Yadav, a survivor of the incident at the immersion ghat, told that the incident was terrible and the attacks were going across with buffaloes. Then suddenly the dredging ship came amidst the strong current and we used to shout to stop the shipman. But did not listen and a big incident happened. We somehow got out by swimming. On the other hand, Bhagalpur SDO Dhananjay Kumar told that the steamer reached the spot. SDRF team started rescue on the spot. Eight people were drowned in the incident in which 6 people got out. Two shepherds are missing along with several buffaloes.
