1857: Under the leadership of Colin Campbell, the British freed Lucknow from the occupation of the revolutionaries.
1926: Birth of spiritual teacher Satya Sai Baba.
1936: The first issue of Life, a magazine with a different identity in photo journalism, was published.
1937: Jagdish Chandra Bose, a renowned scientist of the country, passed away.
1946: 6000 Vietnamese civilians killed in French naval attack on port city Haiphong.
1980: 2600 people died due to severe earthquake in Italy.
1983: Organization of the first Commonwealth Summit in India. This conference was organized in the capital Delhi.
1984: Nearly a thousand people were trapped in a smoke-filled tunnel for three hours after a fire broke out at London’s busiest Oxford Circus station.
1990: Britain’s famous writer Roald Doll died in Oxford, England. Doll is known for creating wonderful literature for children.
1996: Hijacking of Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 767 aircraft going from Addis Ababa to Nairobi. The plane crashed into the Indian Ocean due to low fuel.
2001: An Israeli helicopter fired two missiles at a vehicle in the West Bank, killing Mahmud Abu Hanoud, a prominent member of the Islamic fundamentalist organization Hamas.
2002: It was decided to organize the world beauty pageant in Nigeria instead of there in London.
