PM Modi said on Tamil New Year: PM Modi attended a program organized in the national capital Delhi on Tamil New Year. In his address on this occasion, he said that the ancient culture of India is really amazing. Every year new energy comes from Puthandu. The PM said that he is also emotionally attached to it.
‘My emotional attachment to Tamil’
On Thursday, PM Narendra Modi attended Tamil New Year celebrations in Delhi. The ceremony was organized at the residence of Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Dr. L. Murugan in Delhi. PM Modi in his address at the ceremony said that Puthandu is indeed a wonderful festival with ancient Tamil culture and tradition, which gives new energy every year. He said, “This is what makes Tamil Nadu and the Tamil people very special. So, I have always been fascinated by this tradition and have had an emotional attachment to it.”
Pongal, Puthandu’s impression all over the world
Speaking on Puthandu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also reminded of one of his speeches given from the Red Fort. He said, “On completion of 75 years of independence, I had told Red Fort to be proud of its heritage. The more ancient a thing is, the more it stands the test of time. That’s why Tamil culture and Tamil People are both eternal as well as cosmic in nature.” The PM said that the more ancient a thing is, the more it stands the test of time. Be it Pongal or Puthandu, they have their mark all over the world.
Tamil is the oldest language in the world
PM Modi further said that Tamil is the oldest language in the world. Tamil literature has also been widely respected. Every Indian is proud of this. Tamil people also actively participated in the freedom movement. That is why both Tamil culture and Tamil people are eternal. Both are global in nature. Tamil people can be found from Chennai to California, from Madurai to Melbourne, from Coimbatore to Cape Town and from Salem to Singapore.
Remembered the old days of Gujarat
The PM said that when he was an MLA in Gujarat, he used to meet people of Tamil origin there. PM said that Tamil voters of Gujarat used to make him MLA and Chief Minister. The PM said, “I will always remember the moments spent with them. It is my good fortune that the love I have shown to Tamil Nadu, the Tamil people have always returned it to me with more.”
