    Syed Haider Ali Passes Away | Railway cricket legend Syed Haider Ali passes away

    New Delhi: Domestic cricket legend Syed Haider Ali passed away after battling a prolonged illness. He was 79 years old. Haider passed away on Saturday in Prayagraj and is survived by two sons, Syed Sher Ali and Raza Ali. Haider Ali, the best left-arm spinner, could never play for India.

    Former first-class cricketer Raza said, “He was having chest tightness for some time now. We were returning home after checking with the doctor when suddenly he collapsed. He died on Saturday around 1.30 pm.

    Haider Ali made his first-class debut for the Railways in the 1963–64 season and played for the team for nearly 25 years. He took 366 wickets in 113 first-class matches in which he took 10 wickets three times and five wickets on 25 occasions. (agency)
