RIYADH — The Saudi astronauts Rayyanah Barnawi and Ali Al Qarni have conducted a live scientific interactive experiment from the International Space Station (ISS) with school students in the Kingdom regarding the proliferation of liquefied colours.

The experience which targeted the students from the primary stages has witnessed a direct interaction between the students and astronauts, and it has focused on the behavior of colored fluids by stirring them, then comparing their speed and shapes in space and on Earth.

The astronauts also discussed the reasons for the difference in shapes and experimented that the decrease and strength of gravity has an effect on speed and shapes.

The astronauts conducted the experiment with the aim of building a new generation of leaders, explorers and Saudi scholars, in addition to achieving the Kingdom’s Vision 2020, in terms of building the human cadres and enhancing the culture of exploration, development and innovation.

The experiments also seek to enhance the capabilities of scientific analysis, increase the interests of students in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Furthermore, the experiments will help develop human capital through attracting the talents and developing the necessary skills, which will contribute in strengthening Saudi Arabia’s role in developing the space sector, and to be an important part of the global community in space science research, as well as investing that research in the service of humanity.

It is noteworthy that the educational experiments are being organized by the Saudi Space Commission in partnership with the Communication, Space and Technology Commission, and in cooperation with the Education Ministry and King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba), as well as Al-Riyadh and Misk schools.

The experiments give the students the opportunities to contact the astronauts, ask them questions and to compare the experiments’ results in the microgravity environment with the results that appeared on the ground. https://twitter.com/Saudi_Gazette/status/1662380712341667840?s=20
