New Delhi: Nepal’s spin bowler Sandeep Lamichhane, who is serving a sentence in jail for raping a minor, has got bail. The Nepal court has ordered his release. Nepal’s Patan High Court has granted bail to Lamichhane on a bond of Rs 2 lakh. Sandeep got bail. But, there is a ban on his going abroad. He will be released on Friday.
Sandeep Lamichhane has played for Delhi Capitals in IPL. On September 8, a court in Nepal issued an arrest warrant for Lamichhane. Sandeep has been accused of raping a 17-year-old minor in a hotel room in Kathmandu. After this Sandeep was taken into custody in October. However, now the Patan High Court has ordered the release of Lamichhane on a surety of Rs 2 lakh.

After the allegations of rape, Sandeep Lamichhane had spoken through Facebook. He had written that he would cooperate fully at every stage of the investigation and would fight a legal battle to vindicate himself. However, when he returned home, he was arrested from the airport itself. Sandeep has been banned from leaving the country till the final order of the court in this matter.
It is known that Sandeep Lamichhane is the most high profile cricketer of Nepal. He was the first cricketer from Nepal to play in IPL. He made his debut in 2018 on behalf of Delhi Capitals.
