Ruckus of villagers at Garsanda Ghat: Truck drivers and contractors who arrived to lift sand were chased, fear of drowning hundreds of houses

Dozens of truck drivers and sensor, who came to lift sand from Garsanda Ghat of Kiun river of Town police station area, were chased away by local villagers. Villagers said that sand is being lifted indiscriminately by the sand collectors from the banks of Garsanda Ghat. Due to which the fear of drowning has increased due to the arrival of water in hundreds of houses. Due to which the angry villagers drove away dozens of truck drivers and the sensor from the spot, who came to collect the sand.

Let us inform that after a long time, it was started after the tender process of various river ghats of the district a few days back. But after the protest of the villagers, once again the river ghat seems to be closed for the time being. Local people including Vijay Singh, Sanjay Pandey, Mukesh Kumar told that the area adjoining the populated area has been cut through JCB and Poklane by the sand sensor. If rainwater reaches the river with heavy rains, it will submerge thousands of houses in this area. Due to which a big problem may arise in front of them.

The same villagers have demanded from the district administration that the manner in which the said area has been dammed with stones in the Nimarang area, in the same way a dam should be built first in the area adjacent to Garsanda Ghat, after that sand should be lifted. Then no villager will oppose it. But until the dam is built, the sand should be banned. In this regard, on Tuesday, the local people have openly announced their protest by holding a meeting through Maiking. However, a complaint has also been lodged by the sensor in the local police station regarding this.
