Ring dam built near Sheetalpur Banjaria village of Sidhavaliya block of Gopalganj district collapsed due to the pressure of Gandak. Simultaneously, the water of Gandak has started spreading rapidly in many villages. The same Saran embankment is also under threat.
At present, the Department of Water Resources and Flood Control has started saving the dam. The same District Magistrate Dr Naval Kishore Chaudhary reached the spot and took stock of the matter. During this, the DM was angry with the officials of water resources and flood control and gave classes to the engineers on the spot. Simultaneously, sitting on the sack, started taking information about the work. Due to which the executive engineer started feeling dizzy.
At the same time, water was splashed on his face. At present, DM has formed a committee under the leadership of DDC and instructions have been given for investigation. In fact, 4 lakh 40 thousand quesec water has been discharged from Balmiki Nagar barrage due to continuous rain in the Terai areas of Nepal. As soon as the water was discharged, the water level of Gandak Nahi started increasing. And the water of Gandak reached the ring dam.
According to the local people, the dam was leaking since yesterday, despite being told to the authorities many times, no one has taken any initiative on it, due to which this dam has broken. is increasing. Along with this, due to the rupture of the ring dam, the flood water is entering rapidly in many villages situated inside the Saran dam. The Banjariya Ring Dam is broken in the width of about 10 to 15 feet.
Due to this the water of Gandak is moving rapidly towards the embankments. However, it is a matter of relief that where this dam is broken. The water level of Gandak has decreased there. Due to which not much area will be affected by floods.
It is being estimated that due to the decrease in the water level of Gandak, the effect of flood will not be in a lot of area. With this, the pressure on the embankments will not be too much. Because now only 2 lakh cusecs of water has been released from Balmiki Nagar barrage.
