Ravi Shastri said, ‘Looking at the amount of cricket being played today, it has become very important that a system should be made for how much cricket a player plays. There should be talk on when to give rest to the players. Here the BCCI President can play a big role. In future, if any player needs to be rested in some IPL matches to play in the Indian team, then it should be so. In such a situation, the BCCI President should sit with the franchise and tell that this player is more important for Team India and after that the number of the franchise comes.
Shastri said, “First, there should be a discussion in the team management about which players need to be rested in the IPL. And then send the message to the franchisee. Here the only thing that the franchise needs to explain comfortably is that this player is essential for the national team and national interest is paramount.
