Ranji Trophy Matches: Indore (Naiduniya representative). Ranji champions Madhya Pradesh turned a near-loss to win to enter the semi-finals of the Ranji Trophy cricket tournament. MP defeated Andhra Pradesh by five wickets in the quarter-finals. Now the team will face Bengal in the last four.
In reply to Andhra Pradesh’s 379 in the first innings at the Holkar Stadium in Indore, MP was bundled out for 228 in the first innings. After trailing by a huge margin of 151 runs in the first innings, it seemed that Andhra Pradesh would now win on the first innings lead itself. But MP bowlers put up an aggressive performance and bowled out Andhra second innings for just 93 runs. After this, on Friday, they achieved the winning target by losing five wickets in 77 overs. On Friday morning, MP had extended the innings ahead when Himanshu Mantri got out on the very second ball. This put pressure on MP, but Shubham Sharma first added 62 runs with Yash Dubey and then shared a 38-run partnership with Rajat Patidar. Prithviraj shocked MP by dismissing Shubham.
Andhra Pradesh bowled bodyline
Andhra Pradesh left-arm spinner Lalit Mohan bowled from one end throughout. He bowled 27 consecutive overs. The fast bowlers were on the attack from the other end. The fast bowlers were attacking the body line by deploying around six players on the leg side. In such a situation, seeing the fielder at short leg and silly point, MP captain Aditya Srivastava tried to play the ball at third man, but was caught. After this there was again pressure on MP. But Saransh Jain and Harsh Gawli took one and two runs without risk and ensured the victory of the team.
