Rakesh Tikait: BKU’s picketing against Noida Authority, Rakesh Tikait demanded to increase the compensation

Rakesh Tikait: Rakesh Tikait of Bhartiya Kisan Union on Friday demanded to increase the compensation for the land being acquired by the farmers in an indefinite sit-in against the Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna authorities. After Tikait reached the protest site, a large number of police forces were deployed there. Farmers clashed with the police and district administration officials at the protest site. Tikait demanded that the compensation for the land being acquired of the farmers should be increased. Officials of all the three authorities: Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Authority reached yesterday to hold talks with the farmers, but the talks were in vain.

Farmers held Mahapanchayat

The farmers said that the strike would continue till their demands, including increasing the compensation for the land, were met. According to the schedule, on Friday, the Bharatiya Kisan Union held a mahapanchayat under the expressway at Zero Point in Greater Noida. Farmers from Noida, Greater Noida and Jewar participated in this. When the farmers came out in the morning for the Mahapanchayat, there was a jam-like situation on the way.

Police and district administration alert

A police spokesman said that the police and the district administration are on alert regarding the mahapanchayat. Police were stationed at all chowk intersections. Top police officers also reached the Mahapanchayat site. At present the situation is normal.
