Punjab News: Punjab Vigilance Bureau Former Minister Sunder Sham Arora to one of his officers 50 lakh bribe Arrested for offering to give Officials gave this information on Sunday. He said that Arora had offered bribe to the officer to get the case registered against him settled. Arora was the Industries Minister in the previous Congress government. He is under investigation in the disproportionate assets case and for alleged irregularities during his tenure. Punjab Vigilance Bureau chief director Varinder Kumar told reporters that Arora has been arrested for allegedly offering a bribe of Rs 50 lakh to a vigilance officer to help him in these cases.
Arora had contacted the officer on October 14.
Kumar said Arora reportedly contacted Assistant Inspector General Manmohan Sharma, who is supervising the investigation, on October 14 and sought his help to get his name removed from the cases. The former minister had offered Rs 1 crore. The Chief Director said that he had earlier proposed to give Rs 50 lakh and the rest amount later.
Arora had left Congress and joined BJP.
Arora was arrested by laying a trap after Sharma informed his superiors about the incident, he said. Arora was arrested when he was trying to deliver a bag containing Rs 50 lakh. Arora had joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in June this year after leaving the Congress.
