Mumbai. Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw was attacked with baseball bats on his car by some people after an altercation over taking a selfie with him outside a luxury hotel in Santacruz, Mumbai. Police registered a case of rioting and extortion against eight persons, including a woman, following the incident that took place in the early hours of Wednesday. In this case, Sapna Gill, who had a scuffle with the cricketer, has been arrested.

DCP Anil Paraskar said, “A case has been registered at Oshiwara police station yesterday (Wednesday) under sections of extortion and damage. It is alleged that 7 people damaged the vehicle and then demanded Rs 50,000 to settle the matter. He said, “One accused has been arrested in this case, search is on for others. Further investigation is on. No complaint has been lodged so far from the side of the accused.”

Prithvi Shaw was drunk?
At the same time, Sapna’s lawyer Kashif Khan Deshmukh said, “Sapna Gill told me that the police has detained her in a case related to Prithvi Shaw. He saw Prithvi Shaw during a party in a hotel and asked him for a selfie but he (Prithvi Shaw) was drunk.

What is the whole matter?
An official said the incident took place when the cricketer had gone for dinner with a businessman friend at a hotel located near the domestic airport in Santacruz. Ashish Yadav, a friend of Shaw and the owner of the cafe, lodged a complaint in this regard. Yadav has been living with Shaw in Bandra for the last three years. As per the complaint, an unidentified person approached Shaw for a selfie, the officer said. The official said that initially the cricketer allowed the man to do so. However, when the man insisted on taking more selfies with him, Shaw refused the request, the officer said. The officer said that after this the accused started arguing and misbehaving with the cricketer.

Person asking for selfie thrown out of hotel
Seeing this, the hotel manager intervened and asked the person seeking selfie with Shaw to leave the premises, they said. He said that after the incident Shaw and Yadav had dinner at the hotel but when Shaw was leaving the place with his friend, he saw the same person with a baseball bat in his hand.

He said that after getting into the car, the accused attacked the windshield of the vehicle with baseball bats. He said Shaw was transferred to another car, while Yadav and others took their vehicle to Oshiwara. He said Yadav saw three motorcycles and a white colored car following his vehicle. Around 4 a.m., his car was attacked by people following him when he was taking a U-turn near a petrol pump on Link Road.
