Pickup seized from Bengal after smuggling liquor to Supaul: Bengal driver and deputy driver arrested, police investigating the matter

On the basis of a tip-off, the police of Raghopur police station of Supaul district has succeeded in confiscating 38 cartoon foreign liquor from a garlic-laden pickup vehicle. Raghopur Police Station President Rajnish Kumar Kesari told that the police had received a secret information that liquor was going towards Supaul in a pickup vehicle from Bengal.

In light of the information, the police team searched the garlic laden pickup vehicle BR 37 F 3956 by stopping it on NH 57 main road from Simrahi to West Dharmapatti, then the consignment of liquor was kept hidden under the sacks laden with garlic. In about 38 cartoons, foreign liquor was confiscated by the police. The driver and deputy driver of the pickup were arrested by the police. The driver of the same pickup vehicle was identified as 32-year-old Ranjit Mandal, resident of Maldwar under Gwal Pokhar police station in North Dinajpur district of West Bengal and the deputy driver was identified as Aftab Alam, resident of Panjrapara West Bengal.

During the interrogation of the police, Ranjit Mandal told that he was going to Supaul from Panjapira place in West Bengal with a consignment of liquor. Raghopur Police Station President Rajneesh Kesari said that a total of 965 bottles of foreign liquor in 38 cartoons have been recovered from the pickup vehicle. Apart from both the arrested accused, legal action is being taken by registering a case against the owner of the vehicle and other liquor traders involved in it.
