The enthusiasm for the municipal elections has started rising. In the first phase, votes will be cast for Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayat on Sunday. But, the eyes of the residents of the city are fixed on the municipal elections to be held in the second phase on 28 December. Due to direct elections for the mayor and deputy mayor for the first time, there is a fierce fight on both the posts. Candidates are measuring the street-locality amidst the share of campaign vehicles. This time the public will decide who will be the mayor and deputy mayor? However, as the importance of the vote increased, many former candidates changed their minds.

The number of candidates has reduced to half since the last municipal elections. In 2017, more than 500 councilor candidates were in the fray for 49 wards. 1400 had taken NOC. At the same time, this time only 275 candidates are in the fray for councilors including mayor-deputy mayor. In 5 wards there is a direct contest between only two candidates and in 16 wards only 3 to 4 candidates are among the public. Former councilor and former mayor Suresh Kumar, Rakesh Kumar and former councilor Nandkumar Sah are in the election for mayor this time.

Changed mind of councilor candidates, candidates reduced to half from last election
Former deputy mayor will not be seen in the new city government

More than half a dozen former councilors including former deputy mayor Manmardan will not be seen in the new government of the corporation. Ward 26’s former deputy mayor Manmardan Shukla is not contesting the election due to the post being reserved. Former councilor Neelam Gupta from Ward 49, Saleha Khatoon from 34, Abha Ranjan from 35, Ma. Sheru Ahmed also did not enter the field. There was Sanjeev Chaihan since 22, who passed away.

Know, this time the candidates for the post of councilor have decreased
Earlier the councilors used to elect the mayor-deputy mayor. Any councilor had a claim on these posts. Now this will not happen. Doubt regarding reservation in elections is a big reason from the beginning. Elections are being held, but the matter is still in the Supreme Court. Being apprehensive about the decision, the candidates who have come to the election field are spending their money on campaigning wisely. ,

Here, displeasure over the change of customs office booth
There is a lot of resentment among the voters of this booth due to the change of polling station located at the Customs Office of Ward 5. A delegation of people including Ashek Kumar, Omprakash Patel, Pappu Kumar, Rajeev Shahi and others submitted an application to the DM on Sunday. Ashek Kumar said that since 2007, the customs office used to be the booth of Ward 5. This time suddenly it has been changed to near the Slaughter House located at RB College Brahmapura. This will cause a lot of trouble to the voters of the booth.
