    MS Dhoni sued IPS officer, know the whole matter related to IPL spot-fixing

    MS Dhoni Contempt Plea: Mahendra Singh Dhoni has approached the Madras High Court against an IPS officer in the 2014 IPL spot-fixing case. Dhoni demands that IPS officer G. Notice should be sent to Sampath Kumar and a case should be registered. According to the information, in 2014, Mahendra Singh Dhoni had filed a civil suit to permanently restrain the then Inspector General of Police Sampat Kumar from making any statement related to match-fixing and spot-fixing. He also requested the court to direct the payment of ₹100 crore for damages.

    An interim order passed on 18 March 2014 had restrained Sampath Kumar from making any statement against Dhoni. Despite this order, Sampath Kumar reportedly filed an affidavit before the Supreme Court in which derogatory remarks were made against the judiciary and senior public prosecutor in the cases against him. Sampath had reportedly said that the Supreme Court had decided to keep parts of the Justice Mudgal committee sealed and the same was not made available to the Special Investigation Team. The matter was raised before the Madras High Court, then the High Court agreed to hear it in December 2021.

    What was IPL spot-fixing case

    The IPL spot-fixing scandal came to light in 2013. In this, allegations were leveled against three players of Rajasthan Royals, S Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankit Chavan. The investigation revealed betting. Raj Kundra, the then co-owner of Rajasthan and Gurunath Meiyappan, son-in-law of Chennai Super Kings owner N Srinivasan, were also found guilty. After this matter came to light, the career of these players came to an end.
