A PARTNERSHIP has been sealed between the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) and the Bataan provincial government that would pave the way for a modern township project in Mariveles.
DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar said on Tuesday that he brought along with him key department and shelter agency officials, particularly Home Development Mutual Fund or Pag-IBIG Fund Chief Executive Officer Marilene Acosta, who expressed her commitment to supporting the project.
The Pag-IBIG Fund and the provincial government headed by Gov. Albert Garcia. The laying of the capsule was held at the project site in Barangay Alasasin.
Under the deal, the provincial government will identify the beneficiaries based on the eligibility requirements to be set by the Pag-IBIG Fund.
The housing chief also inspected one of the four township sites in Orion town with ongoing land development projects to give inputs to accelerate its progress.
The project is part of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s National Housing for Filipino Program: Zero ISF (informal settler family) 2028 aimed at addressing the 6.5 million housing backlog in the country.
Other towns with the proposed 1Bataan Village project include Orani and Balanga City, according to the DHSUD chief.
Acuzar also allied all stakeholders to actively play their role for the success of the President’s housing programs, which is prioritizing ISFs composed of 3.7 million throughout the country.
“I personally received a tall order from PBBM himself to fast-track the implementation of this program. We can only do that if we, at DHSUD, will multiply ourselves through collaboration,” Acuzar said.
“Admittedly, we need the help of everyone — particularly our partners in the LGUs, private sector and other relevant government institutions,” he added.
So far, DHSUD has already broken ground for two project sites under the National Housing for Filipinos Program: Zero ISF
Last week, Acuzar and Quezon City Mayor Maria Josefina “Joy” Belmonte led the ground-breaking at the Harmony Hills Terraces in Barangay Batasan Hills for the housing projects for the city’s ISFs.
Several local government units in Luzon, including the National Capital Region, and the Visayas have already signed a memorandum of understanding with DHSUD for their respective housing projects.
