Melbourne: Australia wicket-keeper batsman Matthew Wade admitted to fielding England pacer Mark Wood during the first T20I in Perth last week and said that if the opponents Had the team appealed, he would have happily walked off the field.
Left-handed batsman Wade played the ball in the air and then opened his hands so that Wood could not catch or run out on his own ball. Wade denied doing anything wrong but later admitted that he realized his mistake when he saw the replays.

Wade was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au’s ‘The Unplayable Podcast,’ “When I saw it after the match, it felt really bad. It was the kind of thing that happens pretty fast.” He said, “I think when I was leaving the field (teammate) Kane Richardson said, ‘You actually pushed him’. I was surprised. I said, ‘No, I didn’t.’ And then I saw the replays and I thought yes, I did.”
Wade said, “Initially I didn’t know whether the ball hit the bat or not. It hit my head, I ran for runs, Davy (David Warner) sent me back, I turned and I saw the player on point running away.” “After that I don’t know if I was going to be run out or where was the ball. Everything happened like this. The England team did not appeal but Wade said he would not have protested if they did. (agency)
