State party president Nana Patole said the film, released late last week, insulted Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman and there was resentment in various states.
Patole said, the Bharatiya Janata Party always shouts that it is a Hindutva government, but when it comes to the profanity film on Lord Ram and Hanuman, it remains silent.
He said that derogatory dialogues have been given to the character of Shri Hanuman and in the name of making a film with a budget of Rs 500 crore, they have made a cartoon film.
Patole said, how did this film get approved in the first place? Was the Central Board of Film Censors sleeping at that time? We demand that the film be banned and the filmmakers should apologize to the people of India for insulting Lord Ram and Shri Hanuman.
The film, based on the epic Ramayana, is facing protests in various parts of India including Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Rajasthan and other states.
