Life imprisonment in murder case in Darbhanga: Court also imposed fine on the accused, the murder was committed on October 28, 2018

The court of First Additional District and Sessions Judge Udaywant Kumar has sentenced the accused to life imprisonment and fine in the murder of Raman Kumar Paswan, a resident of Sundarpur Bela of Darbhanga University police station area, with a sharp weapon.

While giving the verdict on Thursday, the court sentenced the accused Manjit Paswan, Ranjit Paswan, Sanjit Paswan and Anjit Paswan to life imprisonment and a fine of twenty five thousand rupees, saying that for not depositing the amount of fine, the sentence of six months additional imprisonment will have to be spent. A woman accused, Sunita Devi, was acquitted for lack of evidence. After this decision, happiness was seen among the relatives of the deceased. The incident took place on October 28, 2018, near Bela High School.

In the FIR registered on the statement of Kari Paswan, father of the deceased, it was said that his son was coming towards home. Meanwhile, the accused killed him by slitting his throat with a sharp weapon at an isolated place near Bela High School. The body was pierced with a digger at various places. Raman Paswan was lying dead when the people of the house reached there on the sound of barking dogs. Sanjit Paswan was roaming around with a digger in his hand who had just come out of jail a few days ago. Seeing these people coming, all the murderers started running.

Six people were accused in the FIR. The matter was tried in Session Case No. 376/2019. One of the accused, Raj Kumar Paswan, died during the trial, whereas, a day after the incident, one of the accused, Manjit Paswan, was arrested and is under custody. APP Arun Kumar Singh had examined seven witnesses from the prosecution side while six witnesses were examined from the defense side. But the testimony of the prosecution proved this incident to be true and the accused were punished.
