Sourav Ganguly: After being discharged from the post of BCCI President, former Team India captain Sourav Ganguly had announced to contest for the post of President of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). But they withdrew at the last moment. Sunday was the last date for filing nominations for contesting elections and Sourav reached there in the afternoon, but did not file nominations. Since no one else from the opposing camp has filed nominations, a new committee will now be formed through selection instead of election in the CAB’s annual general meeting to be held on October 31. Sourav Ganguly, while wishing the upcoming CAB team, said that I am sure that they will do better in the next three years. About himself, he said that I still have many more things to do in my life.

Who will be the next CAB President?

According to information received from media sources, Sourav’s elder brother Snehasish Ganguly is almost certain to be elected as the next CAB president, who was earlier as CAB’s secretary. Similarly, Amalendu Biswas is expected to become the vice-president. Deobrata Das will take over as joint secretary, Naresh Ojha as secretary and Prabir Chatterjee as treasurer.

The reason for Sourav’s withdrawal is not yet clear, but sources say that he has taken this decision due to personal reasons. It is worth mentioning that before becoming the BCCI President, Sourav was the CAB President. He held this position for three years. He was succeeded by Abhishek Dalmiya, who is the son of late Jagmohan Dalmiya, former BCCI president.
