New Delhi: Former India medium pacer Joginder Sharma on Friday announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. He gave the team victory in the last over in the 2007 World T20 final against Pakistan. Joginder represented India in four ODIs and as many T20Is between 2004 and 2007, taking five wickets.

Joginder, who represents Haryana in domestic cricket, said in a message posted on Twitter, “My cricketing journey from 2002 to 2017 has been the best years of my life and it has been an honor to represent India at the top level.” “It has been an honor to play alongside all my teammates, coaches, mentors and support staff and I thank all of you for helping make my dream come true,” he said. ,

Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni handed him the ball in the last over of the inaugural T20 World Cup final and the inexperienced Joginder led India to victory in one of the most spectacular moments in the history of cricket. This match turned out to be Joginder’s last match for the country. He was with the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League after which he joined the police service and held the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police. He also played a very important role during the Kovid-19 pandemic.

“I am excited to announce that I am exploring new opportunities in world cricket and the commercial side of it, which will allow me to stay connected to the sport I love so much. He recently appeared in the Legends Cricket League in September last year. (agency)
