In fact, the rebel Lakhan Kushwaha, who was expelled from the BJP from this ward and was a member of the Municipal Corporation twice from the Bharatiya Janata Party, has won as an independent candidate. Lakhan Kushwaha’s ticket was cut off by the BJP only because the ward from which he was elected was earlier reserved for backward classes. But now the same ward has become unreserved in the 2023 municipal elections. Lakhan Kushwaha says that he had to lose the Bharatiya Janata Party ticket because of being from a backward class. But Lakhan was not disheartened by not getting the ticket and stood in the election as an independent candidate and surprised everyone by winning.
