Jeetendra Gave More Hit Films Than Amitabh Bachchan Dilip Kumar And Rajesh Khanna At Box Office But Actor Was Never Called Superstar

Jeetendra Filmy Career: Veteran actor Jeetendra once ruled the Bollywood industry. Almost every film of his was a huge hit at the box office. He has even given more successful films than Amitabh Bachchan and Dilip Kumar, who were called superstars in those days. But Jitendra never got the status of superstar. You will be surprised to know that Jitendra came into films accidentally. Then he achieved that position on his own, which is not possible for everyone to achieve.

Before films, he used to work in his father’s shop.
Jitendra had become a bankable star between the 70s and 80s. Every producer and director wanted to work with him and only him. Before coming into films, Jitendra’s father had a well-established business. He used to work in his father’s jewelery shop. He also used to supply fake jewelery for films.

Faced the camera for the first time at the age of 17
In 1959, when 17 year old Jitendra had reached the sets of V Shantaram’s film ‘Navrang’ to give jewellery. The director liked him and immediately cast him as an extra in his film. He became the heroine’s body double for some scenes and dance sequences in the film. After five years, Jitendra got his first film, in which he acted as a hero. V Shantaram gave him a break with ‘Geet Gaya Pattharon Ne’ (1964). Before this film, people knew Jeetendra as Ravi Kapoor. But Shantaram’s film launched him under the name of Jitendra.

Made record of giving most successful films
According to reports, Jeetendra has worked in about 209 films from the 60s to the 80s, most of which have been successful at the box office. In his entire career, 56 films of Jitendra have been hits and 13 have been successful (semi hit and average grosser). Jitendra had left many superstars behind in terms of giving hit films at the box office. Amitabh Bachchan’s 55 films were hits during that period. Rajesh Khanna’s 42 films and Dilip Kumar’s only 31 films have been successful at the box office. Despite giving the most successful movies, Jeetendra was never called a superstar.
