Mumbai: New Mumbai Indians head coach Mark Boucher wants to meet skipper Rohit Sharma at the earliest to discuss his coaching style and how to get the best results for the five-time champions in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Jayawardene will now take on the role of Global Performance Head of Mumbai Indians, with additional responsibilities for Mumbai Indians Emirates (International League T20) and Mumbai Indians Cape Town (South Africa T20). Boucher heaped praise on Rohit, who is currently out of the two-match Test series against Bangladesh due to a thumb injury.

The former South African wicket-keeper said the India skipper across all formats is a “fantastic player” and a “good leader”. Under Rohit’s captaincy, the Mumbai team has won five IPL titles but in the last 2022 edition, the team finished 10th.
Boucher said on the website of Mumbai Indians, “The meeting with Rohit is going to be very interesting. I have played against Rohit before. I think he’s a fantastic player and a great leader, so I’m looking forward to meeting him.”
He said that this new role will be of great responsibility. Boucher said, “There is always hope. It is one of the best franchises in world sports. And with that comes a lot of responsibility. That’s why I only believe in results.” Boucher said, “So I know that I have to perform and the players have to perform as well. I am ready for this challenge. He also said that he would like to meet Jayawardene as well so that he can understand the coaching role better.
