    India and France are working together to end the war between Ukraine and Russia

    Russia-Ukraine War: French Ambassador Emmanuel Lennon has said that the Russian war in Ukraine is a “blatant unprovoked attack”. He said France and India are working on ways to reduce the impact of the war’s fallout on food and energy security. The ambassador said in an interview to PTI that France strongly condemned Russia’s illegal occupation of four regions of Ukraine.

    Surely India would not want

    It has been called a serious violation of both international law and the sovereignty of Ukraine. Welcoming Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recent call to end the conflict, the envoy said the leaders of both India and France are working together to persuade Moscow to return to the negotiating table. “We think Putin wants to return to the times of imperialism and we want to avoid it anywhere else in Europe, especially in the region I’m talking about,” he said. Even in the Indo-Pacific region, we do not want this and I am sure India does not want any neighbor to aggressively encroach on its borders.

    France respects
    Tensions escalated in a seven-month war after Russian President Vladimir Putin signed treaties on Friday to illegally annex parts of Ukraine to Russia. The European Union, in an immediate reaction to Putin’s latest move, issued a joint statement condemning the illegal merger of four regions – Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhya.     Putin steps up for peace
    President Putin has now signaled a ceasefire after asserting his authority over four important regions of Russia. He has now sent a peace proposal to the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky. Putin said that Ukraine should now leave the conflict and come forward at the negotiating table. This is its way. It is clear that after making four states of Ukraine a part of Russia, Putin no longer wants further war. But Ukraine does not agree on this. Zelensky has repeatedly called for the return of his territories from Russia. Ukraine has also announced to continue fighting until its territories are recaptured. But now it remains to be seen what decision Ukraine takes after this latest development.

    The capture of four parts of Ukraine
    In fact, Putin has managed to make Donetsk and Luhansk part of Russia along with Kherson and Zaporizhzhya, the first two regions being made part of Russia. The United States and the United Nations, including Ukraine, are opposing Putin’s decision. Putin has taken this step after holding referendums in these four regions. According to the Russian referendum, 85 to 98 percent of the people of these four regions were in favor of merging these regions of Ukraine with Russia.
